Capability & Talent Lead – Dublin
Due to an internal promotion, we are delighted to announce a permanent opportunity to join Aviva Ireland in the role of Capability & Talent Lead.
This role will be accountable for tasks across Learning, Capability, Talent Management & Development, therefore the ideal candidate needs to showcase a well-rounded skillset across all these areas, with previous work experience within a large, matrix organisation. The successful post-holder will take a ’One Aviva’ approach to all Capability and Talent initiatives, deploying Aviva wide tools and solutions when developing and executing local strategy, in support of business requirements.
Duties & responsibilities:
Responsibility for defining and executing the Capability and Talent strategy for Aviva Ireland, identifying capability gaps, building upskilling plans for strategic capabilities, and ensuring suitable succession planning is in place
Input, support and drive the organisation’s talent and succession plans, working closely with Aviva’s Heads of People (Ireland Life and GI), local CEOs, exec teams / Shared Services leads and Aviva Group’s wider Learning & Talent centres of excellence.
Actively drive diversity & inclusion in all talent and development programmes across Ireland.
Direct accountability for ensuring Aviva Ireland employees have access to relevant learning tools and courses i.e., that the right initiatives are designed and delivered successfully
Oversee our leadership development and early careers offerings
Provide advice and guidance on matters relating to capability, and talent to senior leaders, influencing and challenging to ensure success
Provide market insights and data to continuously improve our capability and talent agenda
Ensure activity is efficient, cost effective, fit for purpose, meets the unique needs of the business, and supports achievement of Aviva global strategy & plans.
Create localised plans to support development of agreed key competency talent pools and shape internal moves to develop competence of agreed talent pools
Be a catalyst for honest conversations and values.
Take into account risk and reward when making business decisions, while ensuring that effective and proportionate risk management processes and controls are in place at all times in compliance with relevant local and Group Policies.
Work with the Heads of People and Group Centres of Excellence to ensure ongoing alignment with the Global People function strategy.
Line management responsibility for one Talent Partner.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Extensive experience within well-rounded Talent & Learning role(s), with excellent knowledge of creating & implementing strategies aligned to Capability and Talent (if you have only worked in sole Learning / Trainer, or Talent Acquisition / Recruitment type roles your details will not be suitable)
Experience of working for large matrix, multi-site organisation(s) previously
Well-developed coaching and consulting skills, including a successful record of building personal credibility, and managing relationships with key executive decision-makers, influencing others to see the bigger picture
Ability to develop high performing teams and leaders across business lines
Strong people management skills
Collaborative working style, matched with an innovative mindset when it comes to developing, leading, and deploying capability and talent activity
