This role would suit someone experienced in network engineering who’s ready for a step up, or a seasoned professional excited to expand their leadership, technical depth, and impact across Aviva’s enterprise environments.
A bit about the job:
As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maximising the value of Aviva’s network technologies, ensuring seamless enterprise connectivity across cloud and hosted environments. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that designs, enhances, and supports the network services that keep Aviva operating smoothly.
You’ll lead technical input into projects, shape the future of our network roadmap, and help drive innovation through automation and modernisation. You’ll also oversee changes, incidents and problem investigations with internal teams and suppliers, ensuring high-quality service and continuous improvement.
There may be the opportunity to participate in a 24x7 on‑call rota.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Deep technical expertise in several of the following: SDWAN (overlay and underlay), SASE/SSE, LAN switching, wireless networking, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper technologies, ideally with CCNA or equivalent as a minimum and CCNP-level knowledge preferred.
- Experience of network automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python) and a strong interest in leveraging automation for efficiency.
- Strong packet-level analysis skills using tools such as Wireshark.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence, and build positive working relationships across teams and with third‑party partners.

- Starting salary circa £60,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
