Actuarial Model and Systems Lead - Life
The Actuarial Model and Systems Lead is a key member of the Actuarial Reporting Leadership. Initially this role will be involved in leading a strategic change programme to reshape the end-to-end actuarial reporting models, processes and systems. This will involve driving the implementation of new technology and techniques to optimise the end-to-end Actuarial Reporting models and processes.
The Actuarial Model and Systems Lead will be responsible for the successful transition from the programme to BAU and the future maintenance and performance of the Actuarial reporting platform meeting all required regulations through an operationally efficient system of models, processes, and controls.
This role that leads a team of modelling and system actuaries, requires close liaison with other peer Actuarial and Finance managers, IT and direct contact on a regular basis with senior management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the Actuarial Reporting Strategic Change Programme:
Lead on the scoping and planning of the design and development, for the implementation of the Actuarial Change Programme
This will involve reviewing the current the end-to-end actuarial reporting platform and assessing new technologies, industry techniques and best practices for implementation
Leading on the successful delivery of the Actuarial Change Programme governed through the Steering Committee
Responsible for ensuring all developments are designed and delivered for operational efficiency and meeting required regulations and standards
Successful BAU transition and operationalisation of developments
Responsible for the future maintenance and performance of the actuarial reporting models and systems. Including owning the development and governance process for any future changes to the liability model, systems and processes
Ensure that the processes and controls in place are maintained to operate effectively to meet Aviva’s standards for financial management and accelerate reporting timelines
Management of audit relationships and processes, ensuring a clean sign off
Liaising closely with all relevant partners such as IT, Financial Reporting, UK Actuarial Modelling, Finance, Aviva UK and Aviva Group as required
Skills & Experience:
Experience leading and/or managing a team through a strategic changing programme with the ability to communicate complicated issues to senior management
Extensive experience of model development, actuarial systems and processes (Prophet, SQL, Python, etc.). Experience of a workflow systems is ideal
Up to date knowledge and understanding of actuarial principles and methodology (SII and IFRS17)
Producing management level reports and presentations, and communicating to senior stakeholders
Knowledge of the financial structure and operation of life and pensions products and in particular have a strong knowledge of the structures of unit linked, with profit and term insurance products
