The successful candidate will join a team who is responsible for working with a large cloud platform and building on our existing industry-leading data management techniques.
Data is the life blood of any modern organisation and Aviva is no different. The role sits within a team who responsible to the data pipeline that provides Quantum Data Science Practise (covering areas like Machine Learning and AI), Pricing, Financial Crimes, Fraud and Underwriting with the data they need to provide our customers with the best products.
A bit about the job:
An exciting opportunity within one of our Data Engineering teams for a highly skilled individual to work within our data environment, which is helping to shape the future of insurance through cutting-edge predictive analytics and Data Science. The team is part of Aviva’s global Data Science Practise (Quantum) and is recognised as a centre of excellence.
As well as being an expert in Data feature creation and management, you’ll have a strong background in Data Ingestion and Integration, designing and implementing of ETL pipelines on various technologies, Data Modelling and a rounded understanding of data warehousing.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong coding and software engineering expertise in SQL and Python including data pipeline development, testing best practices, version control (git/PRs), object-oriented design, debugging, and scripting.
- Proven experience in analytics and data quality, covering EDA, predictive/descriptive analysis, feature engineering, visualization, data profiling, anomaly detection, and clear data documentation (schemas and dictionaries).
- Organised, self‑motivated professional with the ability to work independently and deliver with drive and commitment.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, experienced in agile environments and working closely across teams and with customers.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a proven skill in translating complex analyses for non‑technical audiences.

- Salary: circa £33,000 - £40,000 based (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity 8% of annual salary - Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
