Data Management Lead - C&M Kayak (12 Month Secondment)

Salary: circa £100,000

You will lead data management for the C&M data landscape supporting the Direct Line integration, ensuring that the Direct Line data meets Group standards, regulatory expectations, and business needs.

Your role is pivotal to:

  • Embedding Group Data Management capabilities (metadata, data quality, access management, classification etc.) into the new data flows.
  • Ensuring Direct Line data is accurate, well‑controlled, well‑catalogued and ready for downstream use across C&M.
  • Supporting Aviva’s wider ambition to uplift enterprise data management, building repeatable, sustainable practices that continue beyond the programme.

This is a highly collaborative role, working across C&M, Group Data, Technology, Programme teams, and Direct Line SME

A bit about the job:

The role embeds strong data management into the integration of Direct Line data—ensuring new data products, flows and models meet Group standards, have clear metadata and ownership, and are accurate, complete and trusted. It drives adoption of enterprise data capabilities across the C&M landscape, leading data quality assessments, resolving issues and uplifting definitional clarity for data moving onto Aviva platforms.

It also ensures compliance with Group standards, GDPR and regulatory obligations, while strengthening access and usage controls for new data assets. The role supports teams in adopting good data management practices and represents C&M in River/Kayak governance forums, working closely with technical, business and Group data teams.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of data management principles and the full data lifecycle, with experience embedding these practices into complex change programmes, including integration and migration activity.
  • Hands‑on experience across multiple data management disciplines (e.g., Metadata Management, Data Quality, Data Access, Master & Reference Data, Classification).
  • Familiarity with Group-level frameworks such as DAMA, CMMI and certified data management credentials (e.g., CDMP) are highly beneficial.
  • Experience with data governance and data management tooling such as Collibra, BigID, Immuta or similar; experience with Snowflake/cloud platforms desirable.
  • A proactive, structured leader who simplifies data, influences decisions, and treats data as a strategic asset.
