Lead DevOps Engineer – Bristol – Salary circa £50,000

We are seeking a senior DevOps  engineer our team, responsible for developing and supporting infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployments within a Gen 2 AWS environment. This role will play a key part in enabling scalable, cost-effective, and secure infrastructure solutions, while also mentoring software engineers in DevOps practices.

This role resides in the Finance Technology Platform, which supports the movement of data, internal and external to Aviva, to a central repository for operational and analytical business functions to access and use for downstream regulatory reporting.  

We are constantly modernising our complex Finance estate and play an important part in all Aviva teams achieving strategic targets, whilst supporting business self-service where possible.   

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in infrastructure configuration and automation within AWS environments.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS CDK, Terraform, and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO.NET).
  • Experience with MWAA and other AWS-native services.
  • Solid understanding of cloud cost monitoring and optimization strategies.
  • Ability to mentor and train software engineers in DevOps practices.

  • Starting salary circa £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
