Aviva

Financial Risk Analyst

Vacancy reference number: R-165486
Location
Dublin

We’re looking for a Financial Risk Analyst to join our second‑line Risk team on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract to play a key role in overseeing how Aviva manages solvency, liquidity and financial risks. This is an exciting and varied role and is ideal for a part‑qualified actuary with experience in reserving, pricing or other technical areas who is looking to broaden their understanding of general insurance. You’ll gain exposure to senior leaders, work with colleagues in Finance, Actuarial, ALM and Investments, and develop a deeper appreciation of how decisions in different areas link together and impact the company’s overall risk profile.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is a team player with strong interpersonal skills - analytical, curious, enjoys understanding the “why” behind the numbers, and wants to help shape and influence how key strategic and regulatory decisions are made.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of ERM in delivering second‑line oversight of financial risks, including risk reviews, standard formula appropriateness assessments, Stress & Scenario Tests and risk reporting.
  • Contribute to updates of the Risk Management Framework and financial risk policies (such as Liquidity Risk Appetite, Solvency Risk Appetite and Credit Limit frameworks), ensuring they remain robust and aligned to business needs.
  • Provide oversight and constructive challenge across business planning, strategy, capital management, credit exposure management, investment governance and policy reviews, including preparing inputs for CRO Reports.
  • Support BAU and assurance activities such as reviewing risk assessments, credit limit reviews, spreadsheet governance, model oversight and risk event investigations, ensuring issues are escalated and managed appropriately.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with Finance, Actuarial, ALM, Investments and Group teams, contributing to workshops, deep dives and ongoing engagement across the business.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong technical and analytical skills, ideally with an actuarial background (general insurance reserving, pricing or similar) and a solid understanding of concepts such as Solvency II, IFRS 17, solvency, liquidity and insurance fundamentals.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment within insurance or financial services.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and communicate clear, practical insights to a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • Strong governance, documentation and organisational skills, with confidence engaging across functions and contributing to structured reports and reviews.
  • Experience with risk and control assessments, models, spreadsheet governance or financial review processes is desirable; part‑qualified actuary (or equivalent technical background) preferred.

Fitness and Probity
This is a Regulated Role and will be subject to enhanced pre-employment screening procedures. There will be an on-going requirement for the role holder to maintain fit and proper status.
