Are you someone who is passionate about improving data at scale and influencing how teams adopt data standards?
If you enjoy shaping domain‑level data quality, metadata and governance, this could be the perfect next step.
A bit about the job:
We’re looking for a Data Management Specialist to help drive the design and rollout of new Enterprise Data Services across Aviva Group.
As part of the newly formed Group Chief Data Office, you will help shape the direction of Aviva’s Data Management services, standards and best practices.
With an immediate focus on rolling out our Data-as-a-Product approach - you’ll help create and enhance the processes, systems and services that uplift how we govern, measure and improve data across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence a strategic new capability at scale, working with supportive colleagues across multiple business lines.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management and how data flows across an enterprise, including practical experience embedding Data Management practices as part of change or transformation programmes as part of one or more large organisations in a regulated industry such as financial services, banking, insurance, health or life sciences
- Ability to inform, influence and manage relationships with stakeholders and peers, including those less familiar with data concepts.
- Hands‑on experience in at least two of the following Data Management disciplines - Metadata Management, Data Quality, User Access, Data Classification, Master & Reference Data, and the links to Data Governance and Privacy. Preferably based on standardised frameworks such as EDM Association's DCAM and/or DAMA DMBOK.
- Strong commercially demonstrable experience of using Data Management tools such as Collibra, BigID, Immuta, Informatica, Atlan, Alation, Ataccama, Precisely, Talend or similar; ideally within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) including working with Snowflake, Postgres and/or other data stores. This needs to be on a solid foundation of understanding of data dictionaries, database concepts, data architecture, data products, data pipeline and data engineering practices, with ability to engage effectively and credibly with DBAs, Data Engineers, Architects, and Platform teams to understand data structures, metadata, lineage, integrations, and data flows across a hybrid enterprise landscape.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with proven experience engaging senior stakeholders, leading governance forums and working groups, and producing concise, visually compelling executive-level materials that drive informed decision-making and action
