A bit about the job: 

This role exists to provide independent, expert oversight of Aviva’s exposure to complex credit risks within our UK Insurance, Wealth & Retirement (IWR) business. You will play a key part in ensuring Aviva remains resilient and well positioned as we manage material credit risks linked to our annuity and investment portfolios. 


You will be joining our Finance & Investment Risk Business Partnering team—working closely with senior stakeholders across Investment, Risk, Actuarial and Finance. Your work will help ensure credit risks are well understood, well governed, and managed within our stated risk appetite. 


In this role, you will be accountable for delivering high quality challenge and oversight on areas such as new asset approvals, credit structuring, modelling, rating approaches, Matching Adjustment compliance, and oversight of Aviva’s asset managers. 


You will also lead a small team of specialists, helping them succeed while ensuring Aviva maintains a strong, values led risk culture. 

Skills and experience we’re looking for: 

  • A deep understanding of credit, liquidity and market risk in the sourcing of private asset, ideally in the context of a long-term insurer. 
  • Knowledge of Solvency UK Matching Adjustment regulations and how they interplay with sourcing assets for a long-term insurer, would be ideal. 
  • An understanding of the key risks and oversight required of outsourced asset management services.  
  • A high impact independent thinking leader, who provides confident and credible challenge and advice to senior stakeholders within the business including the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Finance Officer.  
  • Ability to form trusted relationships across a large diverse organisation with an adaptable and flexible style. Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and an energy, drive and a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Salary circa £120,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
