Lead Business Data Engineer

Location: Norwich or Perth

You’ll enjoy using data to solve real problems and wants to shape how we use advanced analytics across our Commercial Lines business. You might be ready for a step up, keen to lead a small team, or excited to work with modern cloud‑based tools.

A bit about the job

You’ll help us build data solutions that make decision‑making faster, clearer and more reliable. Our Commercial Lines data team supports analysts, data scientists and product owners with the tools they need to generate insights.

You’ll design and run the pipelines that power analytics and machine‑learning projects while your work will help us deliver trusted data to the business, improving how we serve customers every day. You’ll also guide and support a small team of data engineers as we grow our capabilities.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • You know how to design and build models, ETL processes and data pipelines.
  • You can write clean, reliable code in Python, SQL or Spark.
  • You’ve worked with modern cloud‑based tools such as Snowflake, dbt or Airflow.
  • You understand what good data quality, governance and security looks like including DevOps best practices
  • You enjoy working with senior stakeholders, understanding product and business needs. Leading a small team and can translate technical detail into clear actions.

  • Starting salary circa £55,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
