Location: York, Norwich, or Bristol – 50% hybrid

Legal Counsel - Commercial & Outsourcing – Salary circa £65,000

This is a great job for someone who is a qualified solicitor or legal executive with experience in commercial contracts and is looking to further develop their expertise in technology, outsourcing and AI-related legal work. You'll enjoy building strong relationships with stakeholders, providing practical legal advice and helping the business navigate complex commercial arrangements. A bit about the job: 

You'll join Aviva's Commercial & Outsourcing Legal Team, supporting a wide range of technology, procurement and strategic business initiatives. The team plays an important role in helping Aviva manage legal risk while enabling innovation and commercial growth. You'll provide legal advice on supplier, technology and outsourcing contracts and work closely with colleagues across Procurement, Risk, Data Protection and Information Security. You'll help deliver commercially focused solutions that support Aviva's strategic objectives. You'll also contribute to developing contract standards and continuously improving legal processes. 

Skills and experience we’re looking for: 

• Qualified solicitor or legal executive with strong experience advising on and negotiating commercial contracts, including procurement and supply chain agreements.
• Experience supporting technology-related contracts, such as outsourcing, software, SaaS, cloud, data and AI arrangements.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical and commercially effective solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders and manage negotiations.

• Commercially pragmatic and able to work independently, while recognising when to seek guidance or escalate risks.

• Salary circa £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
