Aviva is looking for an Operational Control & Effectiveness Lead to join our Ireland Life Operations Team — a key role focused on strengthening our risk and governance environment while supporting exceptional customer outcomes. This role can be based in our Dublin/Cork/Galway office.

In this role, you’ll provide expert oversight across risk and governance activities, ensuring our operations remain resilient, compliant, and continuously improving. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, offering insights and solutions that align with regulatory expectations and protect customer outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and management of key risk frameworks, audits, and reviews to support business performance and sustainable growth.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CE Senior Leadership Team, offering technical guidance on risk and control matters, regulatory compliance, and conduct MI insights.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying risks, conducting RCA, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance the operational risk management framework, ensuring clear accountability between control owners and first/second line functions.
  • Champion quality and customer protection initiatives, including the development of Vulnerable Customer (VC) strategies and risk leadership on major projects.

Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience in a similar role within the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Deep knowledge of operational risk management frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of effective operational and regulatory management.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to change and continuous improvement.
