Protection Claims Assessor  

We have an opportunity for a Claims Handler to join our Risk Claims team on a 6-month secondment. 

This role plays a key part in delivering brilliant customer outcomes. You’ll act as the first point of contact for customers and advisers/brokers, providing clear guidance, expert support, and a consistently high‑quality service. 

You’ll manage Protection insurance claims from initial investigation through to negotiation and final settlement, ensuring each customer receives a fair, timely and empathetic experience. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • You’ll act as the first point of contact for customers, advisers and brokers — providing high‑quality support, guidance and reassurance. 
  • You’ll manage a portfolio of Protection insurance claims from first notification through investigation, negotiation and settlement. 
  • You’ll work with third‑party suppliers, medical professionals and internal stakeholders to progress claims efficiently and fairly. 
  • You’ll help us maintain strong service levels during a period of planned team absence, ensuring continuity and preventing backlogs. 
  • You’ll contribute to a team that prides itself on empathy, accuracy and consistently delivering good outcomes for our customers 

Skills & Experiences: 

  • Experience in claims handling, insurance, or a customer‑facing role that involved decision‑making and problem solving. 
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to support customers sensitively and confidently. 
  • Ability to assess information, follow guidelines and make clear, well‑reasoned decisions. 
  • Organised, curious and proactive — able to manage your own workload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Comfortable handling calls, digital interactions and working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

This is a Regulated Role and will be subject to enhanced pre-employment screening procedures. There will be an on-going requirement for the role holder to maintain fit and proper status.
