This is a great job for someone who is passionate about quality engineering and excited to lead the evolution of testing practices in a modern, technology-driven environment. You might be an experienced Test Specialist or Quality Engineer ready to step up into a more strategic, leadership-focused role, or someone who already coaches others and wants to broaden their impact.
This role would suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical expertise with mentoring, and who thrives on driving continuous improvement through automation, data, and innovation.
A bit about the role
You’ll join Aviva’s Quality Engineering (QE) team, working across a diverse, multi-site environment supporting a range of platforms, features, and projects. In this role, you’ll champion a “quality first” mindset, shaping and implementing QE standards, tools, and frameworks that improve efficiency, automation, and overall delivery quality. You’ll provide technical leadership to quality engineers—coaching, mentoring, and enabling them to succeed—while using data and insight to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.
You’ll also play a key role in evolving our QE capabilities, including automation, AI/ML, and modern testing practices, ensuring we deliver better outcomes for our customers and business.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
- Proven ability to define, implement, and govern QE standards, frameworks, and best practices, while providing technical leadership and mentoring to quality engineers.
- Strong experience driving automation using frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, C#, process optimisation, and efficiency improvements using modern QE techniques, tools, and engineering practices.
- Skilled in establishing QE KPIs and OKRs, analysing quality metrics, identifying trends and risks, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Hands-on experience evaluating and adopting advanced QE technologies including GenAI, AI/ML, test automation using MCPs, data generation, and environment virtualisation tools.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams (Engineering, DevOps, Architecture, Product) to design QE solutions, while managing risk and embedding a quality-first mindset across the organisation.
