Senior Quality Engineer

Salary: Circa £70,000

Locations: Bristol, York, Norwich or Perth

This is a great job for someone who…

…is energised by modern testing practices, passionate about building high‑quality digital experiences, and excited to shape how engineering teams deliver secure, reliable, high‑performing products.

You’ll feel at home here if you enjoy working with C‑suite leaders just as much as collaborating with developers and product teams.

You’ll coach teams on quality, champion early testing, and explore how automation and GenAI can transform the way we work.

This role is ideal for someone ready to step into a leadership position, or an experienced Quality Engineer / Senior Test Manager looking to broaden their influence across programmes.

If you bring a can‑do attitude and a willingness to keep learning, we’ll invest in your growth.

A bit about the job

You’ll join a forward‑thinking engineering community that’s dedicated to building brilliant digital experiences for our customers.

Your focus will be to raise the bar on quality by embedding testing early, scaling automation, and driving continuous improvement across our delivery teams.

You’ll work at the heart of Aviva’s pensions and regulatory change programmes—shaping test strategy, improving how we build and release software, and ensuring our digital journeys are stable, secure and resilient.

Your work will directly influence the reliability of the products our customers rely on every day.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Experience leading test strategy and delivery for complex programmes—ideally within pensions, regulatory or multi‑platform environments.

  • Strong understanding of integration, system and non‑functional testing, with the ability to assess architectural impacts, data constraints and security considerations.

  • Confidence acting as the central test authority for internal teams and external partners, providing clear, risk‑based insights to senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to translate technical change into customer and business impacts, bringing domain knowledge across pensions products, API interactions and regulatory timelines.

  • Experience supporting and coaching distributed or offshore test teams across planning, execution, reporting, and test‑data readiness.
