Actuarial Data Scientist
Are you passionate about turning complex data into meaningful insights that influence business decisions? We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our Actuarial & Assurance Function, reporting to the Actuarial Reporting Insight & Analysis Lead. In this role, you’ll use advanced analytics, machine learning and data engineering techniques to support actuarial reporting, financial risk analysis and strategic decision-making.
You’ll play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights, automating processes and helping shape the future of analytics at Aviva.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver advanced analytical insights using statistical modelling and machine learning techniques to support actuarial reporting, surplus analysis, assumption validation and financial decision-making.
Develop and maintain predictive models that support forecasting, risk analysis, pricing evaluation and business performance assessment.
Lead the automation and enhancement of reporting processes through data pipelines, dashboards and innovative analytical solutions that improve efficiency and scalability.
Collaborate closely with actuarial, finance, risk and business stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic outcomes.
Support Aviva’s iCare culture by promoting innovation, operational excellence, robust governance and responsible data practices while contributing to a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
Skills & Experience
Experience in data science, statistics, predictive modelling or actuarial analysis, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong programming and data engineering skills, ideally including Python, SQL, R or similar technologies used to build scalable analytical solutions.
Knowledge of machine learning techniques and experience applying data-driven approaches to forecasting, trend analysis or business insights.
Ability to create impactful data visualisations and communicate technical findings clearly to a range of business stakeholders.
Degree qualification in a numerate, data science or related discipline. Experience within insurance, financial services or actuarial environments would be advantageous.

The expected pay range for this role will fall between €85,000 and €109,000 and salary offered will commensurate with candidate's level of skills and experience.
