Data Solution Designer

Location: Bristol

Salary: Circa £75,000

This role is a Secondment until end of December 2026

This is a great job for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges and shaping the way information flows across an organisation.

Are you someone who thrives on creating structure from complexity and who’s excited about influencing how data underpins key financial and regulatory outcomes?

Do you love to work collaboratively with both business and technical teams to design solutions that make a real difference?

This role could suit someone with experience in data architecture or data engineering who is ready to take a step up, or a specialist in insurance finance systems who is keen to deepen their technical impact. It would also be a great match for someone confident working with IFRS17, data models and reference data flows, and who enjoys acting as the link between business needs and technology delivery.

A bit about the job

You’ll play a key role in developing, testing and maintaining practical data architectures that support Aviva’s financial reporting and operational data needs. Working within a collaborative data and analytics environment, you’ll support major change programmes focused on transforming how our structured and unstructured data is captured, validated and used. You’ll help translate complex business requirements into technical designs, resolve non‑routine data issues, and identify opportunities to enhance accuracy, reliability and efficiency. All your work will contribute to delivering good customer outcomes and supporting Aviva’s regulatory and strategic objectives.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Strong knowledge of accounting within an insurance environment, including IFRS17.
  • Experience with reference‑data‑driven data flows and how they support financial processes.
  • Ability to design and communicate data structures, metadata and technical requirements to development teams.
  • Experience solving complex data issues and improving data validation or testing processes.
  • Comfortable liaising with both business and IT stakeholders to understand needs and shape practical, scalable data solutions.
