Location: London, Bristol or Norwich
Salary: London: circa £140k / Regional: circa £115k
A bit about the job
We're looking for a Head of Digital Delivery to lead the successful delivery of a large portfolio of digital and technical initiatives that support our customers and wider business goals. You'll play a key role in delivery strategy, shaping and driving execution and ensuring teams consistently deliver high-quality outcomes in a predictable and efficient way.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll influence both short-term delivery outcomes and longer-term organisational capability.
What you'll be doing
As Head of Digital Delivery, you'll lead the delivery of a broad portfolio of digital initiatives, ensuring products and services are delivered effectively, meet customer needs and support Aviva's strategic priorities. You'll oversee planning, sequencing and execution across multiple programmes, balancing competing priorities while ensuring delivery remains predictable, efficient and aligned to business outcomes.
Working closely with stakeholders across Markets, Technology, Product, Architecture and Customer & Marketing teams, you'll create strong partnerships that enable successful delivery. You'll be responsible for identifying and removing barriers, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring clear communication and reporting at all levels of the organisation.
A key focus of the role will be continuously improving delivery capability across your portfolio. You'll help evolve delivery approaches, embed agile ways of working and drive greater transparency through effective use of delivery tools, metrics and reporting. You'll champion a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation and collaboration, helping teams deliver value faster while maintaining appropriate governance and controls.
You'll also play an important leadership role in developing talent and building high-performing teams. Through coaching, mentoring and leadership, you'll help create an inclusive environment where individuals can grow, perform at their best and contribute to a culture of delivery excellence.
Skills and experience we're looking for
- Proven experience leading large-scale technology delivery functions, with a strong track record of successfully delivering complex technical digital programmes, products and transformation initiatives within large and complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of modern delivery practices, including Agile methodologies, delivery management, planning, governance and continuous improvement. Experience working closely with engineering and product teams to drive successful outcomes would be beneficial.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide clear direction across business, technology and executive leadership teams.
- Experience leading organisational and cultural change, including developing high-performing teams, improving delivery capability and embedding a customer-focused, collaborative and outcome-driven culture.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial awareness, with the ability to make effective decisions across priorities, technical roadmaps, investment planning, risk management and resource allocation. Project Management, Agile or related professional qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
