A bit about the job

We’re growing our UK Data Science team to help shape the future of insurance using advanced analytics, machine learning and GenAI. You’ll join a recognised centre of excellence, working with one of the richest insurance datasets in the world.

You’ll lead a talented team to turn complex business questions into practical data science solutions that make a real difference for our customers and colleagues. From problem definition to deployment, you’ll guide work that delivers measurable business impact.

This role exists to strengthen data science as a distinctive capability at Aviva, helping us make smarter decisions today and build for tomorrow.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

• Proven experience leading data science projects, from defining problems to deploying solutions including working with large and complex datasets
• Strong grounding in statistical and machine‑learning techniques, with experience applying them to real‑world problems. Deep learning & GenAI would also be beneficial
• Confidence coding in modern data science tooling using Python, and working with large volumes of data.
• Ability to explain technical ideas clearly to non‑specialists and work closely with operational teams and Senior Stakeholders
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing data science teams

• Starting salary circa £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
