Trainee Pricing Actuary – General Insurance

We're looking for a motivated and analytical Trainee Actuary to join our Personal Lines Pricing & Trading team in Dublin. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your actuarial career through exposure to pricing, forecasting, and trading performance activities. You'll support the Trading & Performance Manager and collaborate with colleagues across Pricing, Underwriting, and Finance. Your insights will help shape business decisions and drive performance across our Personal Lines portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring trading performance, analysing trends in risk mix, volumes, and profitability.
  • Using findings to deliver actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the business, including tailoring market rates to maximise performance.
  • Supporting quarterly valuation mix inputs through data preparation, validation, and analysis to inform actuarial models
  • Assisting with quarterly forecasting by running and refining trading models, ensuring assumptions and outputs are aligned with business plans.
  • Contributing to ad-hoc pricing and trading projects, supporting initiatives to improve performance and profitability.
  • Developing skills in industry-standard tools (e.g. SQL, Python, Radar where appropriate).

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in General Insurance Pricing, ideally in Motor or Home.
  • Part-qualified actuary (IFoA or equivalent) and progressing with exams.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Curious mindset with ability to explain the story behind the numbers.
  • Experience with SQL is desirable; familiarity with Radar or Emblem is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills to present findings and influence stakeholders.
